Frequently Asked Questions
Home Improvements and Home Values.
Every homeowner would like to get the highest value possible for their home and many are willing to make whatever changes are necessary to enhance their property. However, be aware that the cost of the improvement will not often be completely recaptured in the appraisal value of the home.
When it comes to property values, all home improvements are not created equal. Recapturing the value depends heavily on the real estate market and the predominant property values. If the market is slow, expect to see less value recaptured than you would in a fast market. Also, consider the neighborhood. If you remodel your home to twice the size of the other homes on the block, it is unlikely that you will be able to sell at double the value.
The following are guidelines of improvements and their approximate return on a 15 year old property valued at $200,000.00
